Up or Down? How To Style Denim

Has it been over a year since you last wore jeans? If you've been living in sweats and forgot how to put on 'real' clothes, we're here to help. Good denim should be a staple in any woman's closet. A pair of jeans or cool denim jacket can be the statement piece of any outfit. Going on vacation and need a dressy outfit? Or are do you need something to chill at home in? Here's how to dress up or down your denim:

LOOSE FITTED JEANS

UP

For Miami nights or a first date, jeans are a must. Mom jeans or ones with a side slit are perfect for a night out because they act as a canvas to the rest of your outfit. To dress up jeans, pair with an open back bodysuit, layers of jewelry, and a low heeled sandal. For a more conservative but elevated look, wear a pretty blouse, hoops, and heeled booties. You can even wear black or patchwork jeans to switch things up.

DOWN

Going to the supermarket but all your leggings are dirty? Don't feel like you're in a ballgown when putting on jeans- you can still keep it casual. To dress down jeans for a casual day out, pair them with your favorite white sneakers, a comfy sweatshirt or plain tank, and a baseball cap to hide your 3-day unwashed blowout. Anything you'd wear with sweats or leggings you can wear with loose fitting jeans to elevate a casual look.

DENIM JACKET

UP

For a in between seasons kind of day, you need a denim jacket. It's the perfect layering piece and pulls together any outfit. For a girls brunch, pair a white or denim jacket over a flirty mini dress. You can accessorize with stackable bracelets, a mini bag, and wedges. This takes your basic jean jacket to the next level.

DOWN

A denim jacket is the perfect throw on. Stay warm while running errands in a jacket and matching sweatsuit and chunky dad shoes. You'll look like a celebrity but feel super comfortable. Bike shorts and an oversized long sleeve tee pair perfectly with a black denim jacket as well.

WHITE

UP

White jeans make a bold statement, so however you style them you'll look amazing. If you're going on vacation, it's essential to pack white jeans or shorts. Pair strappy sandals with a silky crop top for a sexy dinner outfit. Add on a necklace for extra shine. With slip on shoes and a soft cardigan, you can also look a little fancy in denim.

DOWN

Dress down your crisp white jeans with subtle pops of color. Add a tie dye hoodie (or tie dye jeans!) to keep things fun yet casual. A multi colored button down and sneakers makes for a perfect casual lunch. And a black v-neck with layers of necklaces can make a simple outfit look a little more elevated.

DENIM SHORTS

UP

Denim shorts are usually a beach staple, but did you know they can be dressed up? Pair high waisted shorts with a simple bodysuit or tank and throw on a blazer. With heeled sandals and pretty rings, you'll be ready to take on the night. Add a printed crop top to your summer wardrobe because they dress up all types of denim, especially shorts.

DOWN

Live in denim shorts from May-August? Stock up on comfortable and versatile pairs- you can do white, frayed, high rise, or low. Pair them with graphic tees and hightop sneakers for a cool look. For a beach ready outfit, wear jean shorts over your favorite bikini and matching baseball cap. Still simple enough for the beach, but a little more dressed for grabbing lunch, throw on a tie front top to keep you covered.
