Jordan Edwards Combines Martial Arts & Entrepreneurship in New Book: Business Jiu Jitsu as featured in Dan's Papers.

Long Island-based entrepreneur and author Jordan Edwards introduced a fresh, novel perspective on the business world with the August 27 release of his new book, Business Jiu Jitsu.

Drawing on the principles of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Edwards offers a strategic guide for navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship. Edwards, who successfully steered his own company through the pandemic, shares the BJJ-inspired strategies that helped him handle the pressure of business. Edwards displays the parallels between the mat and the boardroom and shows how mastering these skills can lead to success in both arenas. His unique take on the uncertainties of entrepreneurship as “incredibly insightful.”

“Writing this book was a deeply personal journey for me,” Edwards stated. “I wanted to share the strategies that helped me survive and thrive during one of the toughest times in my life. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu taught me how to stay calm under pressure, think strategically, and adapt quickly—skills that are just as essential in business as they are on the mat. My hope is that this book will provide others with the tools they need to succeed, no matter what challenges they face.”

As a CEO and entrepreneur, Jordan Edwards has plenty of experience in handling the complexities of business. This book stems from Edwards’ personal struggle as he helped Mixology Clothing Company — his own business — survive the pandemic. Mixology has now grown to provide for over 250,000 active customers and 300 employees. Inspired by his love of martial arts, Edwards released a weekly podcast to help business owners to navigate the tumultuous world of entrepreneurship, following the same principles he had applied to keep his company afloat. To enrich the insights he had gained during his experience at Mixology, Edwards speaks to some of the brightest minds in the fields of both martial arts and business. These include legendary MMA coach John Danaher, BJJ practitioner Gordon Ryan, and Olympic medalist Travis Stevens. Business Jiu Jitsu marks the culmination of all these principles into a single guide to the world of business.

“If you have ever had a great business idea but we’re unsure of where and how to start, or whether you should really pursue it in the first place, this book not only provides great insight and advice but motivates you to get started,” a review stated. “The authors speak from experience and really know what they are talking about. Highly recommend it!”

In his new book, Edwards presents a highly refined framework for starting and running a business based on BJJ principles. The first part of the book explores the very basics, including how to handle adversity. Subsequently, Edwards explains how to gain control of one’s thoughts and mind. Finally, the third part of the book brings these pieces of advice together to fully delve into taking calculated risks — a fundamental principle when running a business.

Business Jiu Jitsu is available in hardcover on Amazon. For more information on the book and the author, visit businessjiujitsu.com.
